2020 SEASON

Flying start

After a false start in March (only the Mini Golfe would escape Covid :-)), the 2020 season was finally on!

On the Atlantic coast

On August, 4th, 72 competitors were lined up at the start of the first race of the season in the Atlantic. Les Sables Les Açores en Baie de Morlaix. A unique course due to hygiene regulations but this 3-leg race marked by capricious weather was a great success.

With barely time for a breather, the fleet found themselves heading off to La Trinité sur Mer for the Mini en Mai (in Septembre!) where 62 skippers lined up for the the start of this second leg of the Championnat de France on the Tuesday of September 8th.

On the Mediterranean

With a second hygiene-regulated postponent of the Regata base mini Barcelona, our Mediterranean skippers had to wait until Aufust 26th to finally cast off. 19 crews (double handed race) took the start of the Mare Nostrum which was shortened to 220 mm due to unfafourable weather conditions.

Upon which the fleet was forced to split on both side of the basin.

In Spain, 15 skippers left Barcelona for the Regata Base Mini Barcelona - Trofeo Salo Nautic, a new 400 nm single-handed event. Originally planned for June 4th, postponed once to July 24th then to September 8th, the start eventually took place on September 9th.

September 10th was the day that races resumed in Italy with the Arcipelago 650, 180nm double-handed race starting for the first time from Punta Ala. 11 crew participated.

Don' wait any longer to install the latest update (available on Playstore and Applestore) and compare the reference times.

Production boats mini rules

Sails materials

As communicated at the beginning of September, we noticed the use of Aramid in some jib laminate which is incompliant with article S-17-n-2. After numerous discussions, we have decided to accept these sails dating from 2018 until the end of this season. The new ruling is to be rewritten next year to avoid any chance of being open to interpretation.

Mini Transat qualification in races

Reminder

We are halfway through the season and opening of the registrations for the 2021 Mini-Transat a little over 2 months away, a perfect time for a reminder of the rules :-)

In order to be qualified in races, you have to complete 1500 nm over a minimum of 2 events on the same boat (including at least one single handed race and one comprising a minimum 500 nm leg - see article R-8-c of the 2020 official texts).
